Vanilla Bean Baked Apple
Vanilla Bean Baked Apple
Ok I admit, my wife makes fun of me and laughs at me on occasions when I am intently watching one of Martha Stewart’s recipe videos. Apparently a lot of my macho appeal has been diluted by my changed internet habits. From electronic gadgets and sports news, now my internet surfing has grown a healthy appetite of home and garden, food recipes and craft. Though she makes fun of me at times, I don’t hear any complaints whenever I try out one of my hard searched recipes.
So from Martha Stewart website, ladies and gentlemen, young and old, here it is, yours and truly, Vanilla Bean Baked Apples!
Time : Preperation 5-10 min, Bake Time about 1 hour
Ingredients :
- 4 thick-skinned mildly sweet apples, such as ‘Rome Beauty’
- 3 tablespoons packed dark-brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped toasted pecans, plus more for sprinkling
- 1/2 large vanilla bean, halved lengthwise, seeds scraped and reserved
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions :
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Using a cylindrical apple corer, core apples three-quarters of the way down. Fit snugly in an ovenproof skillet or a loaf pan.
- Stir together sugar, butter, nuts, vanilla seeds, and salt in a small bowl. Divide sugar mixture among apples (about 2 teaspoons each). Sprinkle with nuts. Bake until apples are soft, about 1 hour. Serve warm with pan syrup spooned on top.
